Chapter 8
Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons
Notes.
1. This Chapter does not cover inedible nuts or fruits.
2. Chilled fruits and nuts are to be classified in the same headings as the corresponding fresh fruits and nuts.
3. Dried fruit or dried nuts of this Chapter may be partially rehydrated, or treated for the following purposes: (a) For additional preservation or stabilization (for example, by moderate heat treatment, sulfuring, the addition of
sorbic acid or potassium sorbate), (b) To improve or maintain their appearance (e.g., by the addition of vegetable oil or small quantities of glucose syrup), Provided that they retain the character of dried fruit or dried nuts.
Explanatory remarks to Chapter 8
1. Importation of any kind of fresh fruits classified in this chapter is subject to the observance of Article 11 of the Plant Protection
Law approved in 1967.
2. Importation of the products covered in this chapter whether dried, canned, preserved, cooked, frozen or the like is subject to the observance of Article 16 of the Law on Foodstuffs and Beverages approved in 1967.
3. The entry of seeds and plants which, according to the export documents of the country of origin, have been identified as genetically modified shall be subject to the approbation of the Environment Protection Organization in terms of any environmental dangers.
4. Import and export of genetically transformed living creatures and transgenic products bound to save national, security, and biological legal provisions with the previous authorization of the Ministry of Agriculture- Jahad.
5. per exporting of 1.5 kg apple or 1 kg raisin, or 1 kg orange, total customs duties, and commercial profits for 1 kg banana is determined equivalent to 5% of the value.
6. The importation of Products of Subheading 08025100, 080252 with The Previous authorization of the Ministry of Agriculture-Jahad.
